Item Description

1960’s Original French T55 Tolix Rectangular Dining Table – 120cm (Model 1296). Tolix is one of our all time favourite companies. In 1907 Frenchman Xavier Pauchard discovered that he could protect sheet metal from rusting by dipping it in molten zinc (galvanisation) and a few years later he set up his factory producing steel furniture. Tolix was the creator and founder of perhaps the most iconic cafe chair of all time, the Tolix model A, designed in 1934 and sadly now copied worldwide. Tolix used their metal working skill to also produce exquisitely designed but practical cafe/dining tables to partner their chairs. The T55 is the iconic Tolix table and this is an unusual and practical 120cm size. Originally a dusty blue the table has been repainted several times in black and a dark slightly metallic gun metal grey giving the most exceptional character. Knee height: 61cm WORKSHOP REPORT Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
