Item Description
Style: Solid oak monks settle storage bench with delightful floral carving. Dark stained with original patina and lift top storage box seat. Well-suited for the entrance hall, the kitchen, or any chamber of utility, it offers a sturdy perch for the doffing of one's outdoor boots, and a discreet recess for their secure keeping. Circa 1930's in the 17th century style.
Story: Used in Monasteries during the Middle Ages, monks benches were crafted by skilled artisans in oak or mahogany with high backs to keep out drafts.
