Item Description
Style: Full of rustic character, this small oak bench is a lovingly made, provincial piece. Its golden burnished patina is the handsome result of years of use. The bench features hallmark traditional craftsmanship, including curved ends, visible square peg joinery, and curved pedestals stabilised with a stretcher.
Story: Rooted in 17th-century folk-art traditions, French Provincial furniture emerged across rural provinces as a practical, affordable interpretation of the elaborate Baroque and Rococo styles popular in Paris. Artisans utilized readily available indigenous woods such as oak, walnut, and cherry.
