Item Description
Style: Elegant French open armchair, crafted from beechwood and finished in an off‑white paint that highlights delicately carved and painted floral motifs with subtle gilt accents. The backrest is sculpted and upholstered, crowned by a carved floral centre piece. Open arms frame plush striped upholstery and terminate in graceful scroll‑carved details. The generous, supportive seat is raised upon classic cabriole legs. Upholstery combines pale coral and teal stripes, finished with a refined pale gold trim. Height of seat is 40cm.
Story: The French fauteuil—an open‑armed, upholstered armchair—first appeared in the early 1600s and became a quintessential element of elegant seating, especially under the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI in the eighteenth century.
