Item Description
Rare English Hand Painted Railway Sign
An extremely rare example of an English hand painted on pine board railway sign. Naïve yet highly decorative in its look, the paint has faded over the years but is still visible. With both its hanging hooks still in place. This sign was found in Watford junction by the previous owner before the station was rebuilt in the 1960s. We have been told It may have been used on the bridge up the line which carries the st Albans Road and was likely removed when the bridge was listed on the L&NWR society journal in December 2003.
Size in inches: H 42 x W 12; x D 1;
Origin: United Kingdom Material: Wood Completely solid in structure and form, aged naturally across all the surfaces. With worn sections and detail. Some faded areas across the edges and damage to the wood also. This is an old item so please bare into consideration its condition when purchasing. Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in this piece, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
