Item Description
A rare set of six Art Deco old Maritime silver plated bowls by Elkington for the Anchor Line ships.
This fabulously historic set from the late 1920s and mid-1930s were used in the golden era of transatlantic liner travelto serve 1st Class passengersaboard, the line's famous sister ships like the RMS Caledonia (built 1925), the RMS Transylvania (built 1925), or the RMS California (built 1923).
Crafted by the famous Elkington silver makers, they were made to be robust enough to withstand constant use back and forth across the Atlantic before the onset of World War Il, during which many of these beautiful ocean liners were tragically converted into armed cruisers and sunk.
