Contemporary Bronze Swan Bath Towel Bar

Description: Inspired by the idea to have a decorative and functional bathroom range, Water & Wood have introduced a small collection of bronze bathroom accessories. The swan as a motif was chosen for its silhouette and associations to water. Often found on French antique bath taps, the swans lend themselves to a bathroom setting. This towel rail is designed to be wall mounted and comes in 2 lengths. (See last photograph for the hand towel length). Here the longer length of 26 1/2” is perfect for a bath towel.

These swans are made from solid bronze; individually cast in one of Britain's oldest foundries. Using an ancient process called lost-wax casting a rubber mould is made of the original design. Then wax copies are created, which in turn have a plaster jacket poured around them. The bronze is heated in a furnace and poured into this plaster mould. Once cooled every piece of bronze is patinated by hand and a microcrystalline wax is applied to bring out the lustre of the metal.

Care: The bronze is naturally antibacterial and will develop a light patina over time. This is part of the beauty of bronze but you can also clean it using a damp sponge and gentle soap before drying with a soft cloth. If the metal becomes tarnished simply clean with metal polish and a soft cloth.
