Item Description
A Davenport, black transfer printed, part tea service with a pink lustre wash glaze. This comprises a teapot, milk jug, sucrier and four cups and saucers. Each piece is marked in black transfer print, with “DAVENPORT” and the name of the pattern “Durham” in a cartouche. There are other various marks on some of the pieces, one being the impressed anchor with “3” and “5” to either side of it which dates the service to 1835. Each piece is decorated with a black print of Durham cathedral and this is surrounded with very elaborate, floral borders. The prints are then covered in a pink lustre wash glaze.
One of the saucers is badly cracked and the sucrier has a captive crack. There is a small chip to the underside of the sucrier lid and there is wear to the lustre on the jug. All other pieces are in good condition.
Dimensions: Teapot: Length 24cm. Width 14.5cm. Height 12cm. All other pieces are in relation to the teapot.
