Item Description
A large, and very heavy, early 20th century, steel cleaver in the shape of a bird. This is German and it dates from c.1920. It has a number of different letters and numbers stamped in the steel. There is “6” over “MA” over “06” and then a separate “841” and “JJJ”. Some of the design on the blade has also been applied using number and letter stamps. The piece has a very simple, carved wooden handle which is attached by steel rivets. There is pitting to the steel, from use, but otherwise it is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Length 39cm. Height 20cm. Width of handle 2cm.
