Item Description
A Victorian sycamore breadboard with a nicely carved border. This is English and it dates from c.1880. The border is well carved with two small flowers, within circles, and simple, overlapping leaves which make the border resemble a wreath. This is an unusual design and it is very well carved with good depth and detail. There is scratching to the centre of the board, and also to the reverse, from use. It is quite obvious that the reverse of the board has been used for cutting far more than the face in order to preserve the carved border.
Dimensions: Diameter 29cm. Depth 2.cm.
