Item Description
A Wedgwood, black basalt bough pot and cover. This was designed to takes boughs of flowers and the pierced disk, which held the flowers in place, is known as a frog. The vase is marked ‘WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1920. It is also impressed with a number “6” which relates to the height in inches. It is decorated, in relief, with classical maidens and cherubs standing between trees and foliage. Above this is a fine band of flowers and to the foot is a band of grapes and vines. All of the reliefs are good quality. There is a tiny chip to the underside of the frog but the vase is in excellent condition.
