Item Description
A 19th century, Wedgwood pottery, curd cheese mould. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it is also impressed with three letters “ERS”. This is the date code for the year of manufacture which is 1864. There are also impressed numbers “7” over “38”. The number 7 relates to the length of the mould in inches. The design within the mould is fairly simple, having a wrythen, fluted top section above a similar base which lays in the opposite direction. Once the whey has drained from the cheese this would produce a solid cheese in an attractive geometric form. The mould is in excellent, usable condition.
