Item Description
A very well worn, 19th century, sycamore breadboard. This is English and it dates from c.1860. It is carved with the word “Welcome”, a ribbon, and long ears of wheat. Originally the carving would have been well detailed and deep but, over the years, the board has seen considerable use and it is now very worn, but full of character. There are extensive knife marks to both the face and the reverse of the board, from use, but there are no splits in the wood.
