ANTIQUE ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING DEPICTING A MINIATURE PINSCHER (ZWERGPINSCHER)
Depicting a cheeky chappy with bags of character in front of a neoclassical column, probably at a grand country house with a dramatic sky behind.
A well executed painting by a talented hand, we are unsure of the artist but it is signed to the lower left with the monogram ‘T.J.G.’
Oil on canvas later laid to panel.
Probably dating from the late 19th century.
In a later, yet complimentary decorative gilt frame.
Overall the painting is in good vintage order with minimal wear commensurate with age. At some point in its life, probably sometime in the 20th century the original canvas has been laid to a wooden panel. Probably at the same time the painting was restored. On close inspection at some angles you can see a triangular shaped repair patch in the black section of the dogs coat underneath his chin. This work appears to be undertaken by a professional hand as is by the most part unnoticeable in normal conditions.
Approximate overall measurements: 40cm x 36cm x 4cm. The invisible section of the canvas measures approximately 25cm x 20cm.
