Item Description
Style: This exquisite early 19th-century English Regency library armchair is a masterwork of craftsmanship, Handcrafted from rich mahogany and distinguished by its elegantly lyre-inspired frame. Resting on tall bulbous reed carved legs and fitted with sleek brass casters, its silhouette exudes refined symmetry. Later reupholstered in a rich crimson red velvet with button tufting back seat. In addition to the main measurements, the seat height is 41cm and depth seat 62cm.
Story: Regency library chairs, originating in early 19th-century England (c. 1800–1830), drew from Neoclassical design principles, blending Greek and Roman architectural motifs with Egyptian and French Empire elements to create a refined aesthetic characterised by clean, restrained lines.
