Item Description
This set of early motorcycle racing photographs capture 'the action' beautifully. From a simpler time when the bikes had drum brakes, skinny tyres and a fair amount of exhaust smoke, the riders donned basic helmets and goggles and the spectators turned up wearing, what looks to be, their Sunday best. Despite the mechanical simplicity of the bikes, these riders seem to be giving it their all with one lifting the front wheel and another managing to catch some air! Presumably either taken by a semi-professional photographer for journalistic purposes or by a keen amateur hobbyist the quality of the photographs is pretty decent, especially when considering the age/conditions, however there is some motion blur etc which adds to overall effect of the images. The four photos were stored loose in a portfolio so do have some marks/creases notably on one or two corners. They've been professionally framed and glazed and are ready to hang. Due to slightly differing sizes for the photographs the frames aren't exactly the same size, but as can be seen in the first photograph they sit perfectly well together. Together these images make for a unique piece of early motorsport history. As an average, the framed images measure 41cm wide, 33cm high and are 1.2cm deep.
